Brief:
To create a platform dedicated to celebrating and preserving the authentic culture of underground grassroots music, with a focus on nurturing emerging talent and providing a home for unique sounds.
Approach:
Born out of a lockdown initiative, Pound & Yam Radio was developed as a haven for the underground music community. From the outset, we were deeply committed to setting up and programming a station that would authentically represent and support grassroots music. This involved designing the platform’s technical infrastructure, curating a distinct musical lineup, and establishing meaningful partnerships with influential figures and collectives within the scene.
Our programming was intentionally diverse, reflecting the wide range of genres and voices that make up underground music culture. Through a combination of live shows, special events, and curated playlists, we ensured that the platform remained fresh and vibrant, giving artists a stage to showcase their work while fostering a space for community engagement and discovery.
Execution:
The project brought together talented underground artists and collectives, integrating live streaming and on-demand content to engage audiences continuously. We carefully curated shows to highlight the raw talent and unique sounds of the underground scene, while partnerships with established and emerging voices helped amplify the platform’s reach and credibility.
Outcome:
Pound & Yam Radio quickly became a respected platform for underground music, resonating with a passionate audience that values authenticity and artistic integrity. The project successfully established a new voice within the grassroots music space, providing a sustainable avenue for artists and fans alike. Through our work, the station has strengthened its position as a cultural hub, preserving the spirit of underground music and supporting a vibrant, resilient community.
