Exploring Social Causes in Greater Manchester for adidas

Brief:
The aim of this project was to identify social causes in the Greater Manchester area that adidas could authentically support. Following the recent announcement of the partnership between adidas and Manchester United, the brand wanted to explore meaningful community engagement opportunities in the region.

Approach:
This research-focused project went beyond product, delving into the local landscape to understand which social causes adidas could back in a genuine way. The three key areas identified for exploration were player aftercare, homophobia, and homelessness.

To gain insights, I tapped into my network for an initial round of research, which helped lay the groundwork for a more in-depth analysis. This was followed by engaging with five local tastemakers who provided valuable perspectives and deeper understanding of the issues.

Outcome:
The final deliverables included actionable takeaways and light execution strategies, crafted based on insights from the research and connections established. These recommendations offered adidas a clear path to authentically support social causes in Manchester, leveraging the new partnership with Manchester United to make a positive community impact.
